This might be a little tangential but does anyone have any information on
the Braintree slate? The quarry became buried under the Quincy shipyards. It
is a remnant of the middle Cambrian (about 500 mya) sediments. Almost
everything else was eroded away when it was all lifted during the Acadian
mountain building event (early Devonian) They were mining slate from there
through the 19th century. Spectacular trilobites, Paradoxites sp. were sent
all over the world from there. I am wondering if any exposures are still
accessible?
Thanks,
Paul Bourdon
