[MassHistPres] UMass Amherst Old Chapel

                This Daily Hampshire Gazette article is a good account of
the success of our effort to get official support from the campus
administration for our nomination of the Old Chapel to the National
Register. Full credit is due to Chancellor Kumble Subbaswamy for this. He
Has secured the funds for renovation of the Chapel and has agreed that it
made sense to support our nomination as part of the nomination process.
There remain some left-overs from previous campus administrations who have
opposed the nomination, so an email to the Chancellor in support of this
would be very much in order. His email address is:

                The Massachusetts Historical Commission has recommended that
the administration adhere to specific federal guidelines for this type of
renovation. We will be seeking specific acknowledgement that the guidelines
will be followed.
