*Western Massachusetts* *CIRCUIT RIDER PROGRAM JOB OPENING*
*Title*: Western Massachusetts Circuit Rider (a part-time shared field
service position)
*Supervisor*: James Igoe, Preservation Massachusetts
*WORK** OBJECTIVES:*
Representing Preservation Massachusetts, provide direct services to Western
Massachusetts based local organizations and communities which are actively
involved in historic preservation efforts, and to build a strong ongoing
presence for preservation in communities throughout the Commonwealth.
*DUTIES: *
1. Provide guidance on a variety of subjects including preservation
techniques and approaches,
fundraising, organizational development, capacity building, community
relations and
politics, community development, conservation issues, public relations, and
the
availability of preservation resources.
2. Represent Preservation Massachusetts to communities throughout
Massachusetts, but in a focused Western Massachusetts area, and make
assistance available from the organization to those communities whenever
appropriate.
3. Develop a network of preservation supporters throughout the Commonwealth
who are willing and able to assist one another with preservation knowledge
and experience, and serve as a link between such persons to those needing
their assistance through individualized communication, new e-communication
networks, workshops and conferences.
4. Participate in regular meetings of Preservation Massachusetts. Assist
with the Preservation Massachusetts’ communication efforts that relate to
field service. Identify opportunities for Preservation Massachusetts
program assistance, such as the annual Most Endangered list, preservation
workshops, advocacy support, etc.
5. Assist with program evaluation and provide regular reports to
Preservation Massachusetts for newsletters and other communications.
6. Work actively to build constituent support for Preservation
Massachusetts by maintaining records of contacts made, photographs of
projects, *etc*.
*QUALIFICATIONS: *
Strong leadership, administrative, written and verbal communications
skills; the ability to work collegially with a wide variety of interests,
work independently, juggle many tasks and responsibilities. Substantial
experience in community organizing, preservation, fundraising, law,
planning, development, government, journalism, and/or advocacy. Must have
willingness to travel. Undergraduate degree in preservation or related
field preferred. Masters degree desirable.
20 hours per week
Salary commensurate with experience
