Greetings-
There is still space to sign up for the Directions in Twenty-First Century Preservation Symposium on March 29. Historic New England members receive a discounted registration and the full registration comes with a one-year membership to Historic New England.
To see the schedule and sign up, check this What's New<http://www.historicnewengland.org/about-us/whats-new/don2019t-wait-til-it2019s-too-late-register-now-for-the-directions-in-twenty-first-century-preservation-symposium> posting for the Symposium (complete with a great archival image from the bad-old urban renewal days). Of particular value to preservation advocates, from commission volunteers to seasoned professionals, will be the Symposium's keynote addresses on some of the challenges confronting the field, from the successes and shortcomings of design review controls to popular resistance to the preservation message to the centrality of sustainability in building conservation.
In separate news of note for those concerned with twentieth-century resources is the recent announcement of the donation of the Royal Barry Wills Associates archives<http://www.historicnewengland.org/about-us/press-media/news-releases/firm-donates-royal-barry-wills-archive-to-historic-new-england> to Historic New England's Library and Archives, a major collection representing the work of this quintessential designer of traditional New England homes!
