"Pride in Preservation"--the 29th Annual Rhode Island Statewide Historic Preservation Conference

Rhode Island's annual historic preservation conference, "Pride in Preservation," gets underway at the Baptist Church in Warren with a keynote speech by public health, planning, and transportation expert R. Mark Fenton. He will explain how historic community infrastructure and traditional neighborhood design are conducive to healthier lifestyles. This perspective on the national epidemic of physical inactivity emphasizes how we can create communities that provide the triple bottom line: economic, environmental, and public health.  The speech is followed by 11 workshops and 15 bus, bicycle, boat, and walking tours of historic places in Warren and beyond.  Presented by the R.I. Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission with the Town of Warren and the Warren Preservation Society, the annual conference is a great opportunity to explore the historic East Bay and network with design professionals, students, history buffs, public officials, and other preservationists.
