Hi Marcia,

The Cambridge Historical Commission is a combined historical and historic district commission of 7 members and 3 alternates.  Alternates are designated to vote by the chair, when needed due to an absence or recusal of a regular member.

Hello all,

Has any Massachusetts city or town historical commission established under Mass General Law Chapter 40, section 8d, added voting by alternate members under provisions effective April 2, 2014. (The state's online site includes both the added text effective April 2, 2014 and also the older text prior to the addition.) This addition provides for instanced where there isn't a quorum of regular members for a vote. Has any Chapt. 40 sect. 8d commission adopted or used this provision?
