The City of Somerville, through the Purchasing Department, invites sealed
proposals for:



*Preservation Planning Professional Services*

*Union Square Historic Properties Survey Update Project*



The City of Somerville, through the Mayor’s Office of Strategic Planning
and Community Development (OSPCD) and the Somerville Historic Preservation
Commission (SHPC), is seeking proposals from qualified consultants to
conduct an intensive survey of cultural resources within the City’s oldest
commercial area, Union Square, in anticipation of a follow-up project to
propose new or expanded local historic districts. The SHPC has extensively
studied the area to determine its boundaries. Approximately 100 survey
forms will be expected, based upon new or updated research from prior
surveying work, and based upon a working list of priority properties.



A request for proposals (RFP) may be obtained online at

http://www.somervillema.gov/departments/finance/purchasing/bids or from the
Purchasing Department, Somerville City Hall, 93 Highland Ave., Somerville,
MA, 02143 on or after              *July 8th, 2015.*  Sealed bids will be
received at the above office until: *August 14th, 2015 at 11:00am ET.*  The
Purchasing Director reserves the right to reject any or all proposals if,
in her sole judgment, the best interest of the City of Somerville would be
served by so doing.





Applicants must have:  1) a Bachelor’ s degree in Historic Preservation,
Architectural History, History, Art History, or a closely related field,
plus at least two years full-time experience in an area relevant to the
project; or 2) a Master’s degree in any of the above-mentioned areas.
