Westport Historical Commission can spend money only if it is included in
the annual budget approved by Town Meeting. This budget ($750) is used to
pay the expenses of holding public hearings and other admin costs.
The Commission also charges an applicant a $50 fee for submitting an
application for a Certificate of Appropriateness. The fee is paid into the
Town's General Fund, not into the Commission's budget resources. The total
of fees collected depends on the number of applications.
If the hearing is opened, but is continued to a later date, there is no
additional charge because we do not need to notify abutters or post notices
a second time. There is no charge for Certificate of Non-Applicabiity.
Jane Loos, Secretary Westport Historical Commission.
