The former Gloucester Memorial Presbyterian Church (1891, Jacob Luippold)
at 714 Parker Street in the Mission Hill neighborhood of Boston (MACRIS
BOS.7880, address 720 Parker St.), now owned by ABCD, was converted to a
Head Start about 15-20 years ago. A good use for an underutilized building,
but the stained glass windows were encased within unventilated plexi,
inside & out, with the result that the south-facing windows were "cooked" -
the leads melted and the windows completely collapsed. In the central
window over what was once the altar only a pile of colored glass shards
remain.
