LOCAL COMMISSION MEMBERSHIP UPDATES
The Massachusetts Historical Commission is updating membership information for local historical commissions and historic district commissions. This year, we are sending out update requests by email whenever possible. Please help keep us up-to-date with the current members of your commission.

NEW LOCAL HISTORIC DISTRICTS IN MENDON
The Mendon Center and Taft Homestead Historic Districts were passed at the 2017 annual town meeting. In 2015, the Mendon Historical Commission requested the Board of Selectmen to appoint a local historic district study committee according to MGL Chapter 40C-The Historic Districts Act. The study committee investigated the need for the protections of a local historic district and proposed establishing the two districts. The Taft Homestead is a single building local historic district, encompassing an 18th Century farmhouse. The Mendon Center Historic District includes 67 properties.
