Walpole Historical Commission is in the process of purchasing a plaque for Union Station in Walpole commemorating its status on National Register.
Generally, property owner pays for the plaque.
In our case, we found a great donor who was willing to foot the entire cost since the property owner (MBTA) was unwilling to pay for it. However, we were also thinking about getting a local business to sponsor it.
There are various companies that make them, if you google it.
We are buying ours from Norwood Monumental Works, their plaque is $475.00 for the plaque itself and up to $200 for the install depending on conditions. In our case, the MBTA will be installing the plaque for free, so we saved $200, and we also had the non-profit Walpole Historical Society take the donation itself and use it to pay for the plaque so as a non-profit they do not pay sales tax and thus reduced the plaque cost to $450.00.
We did not get quotes from other companies, but Norwood Monumental told us they would match a quote from any other company.
I hope this is helpful.
Sincerely,

What is the best source for purchasing National Historic Register plaques?
What is the cost of the plaques? Who pays for the plaques?
