Hi All!
I work with the Historical Commission in Wilmington and they were wondering if I could make some inquiries about an historic light fixture they would like to install at our local cemetery.
The fixture was a 19th century gas light pole. A photo of the remaining pole is pictured to the right, below. To the left is an old photo showing the original gas lamp in place. Obviously, the fixture is now gone. The Commission is considering replacing the light fixture with a solar powered electrical fixture. They are willing to buy a conventional electric light fixture and retrofit it to be solar (an electrician has been consulted). The issue is finding the right kind of light fixture. It has been suggested that this light fixture, to be to scale, needs to be at least 3 feet tall. Does anyone have any advice as to where to get this kind of fixture (solar or electric) and/or any experience with this type of project? Any insights greatly appreciated!
