Medfield started with a six-month demolition delay in 1994. An increase to 12 months was approved without difficulty after several years.
But later, when we sought a further extension to 18 months - along with other revisions to our procedures - the commission was caught off guard when builders protested not the 18-month delay...but the 50-year applicability standard we'd had since the beginning! The builders seemed to scarcely notice the proposed delay extension to 18 months! After 15-20 minutes of debate, the article as written was approved by a fairly close vote and without amendments from the floor.
