Hi Erin,

Here are some basic tips from the NTHP website: https://savingplaces.org/stories/9-tips-to-plan-a-preservation-bike-ride#.W0eejdVKiUk . I like the idea of getting property owners involved and leveraging bike shares.

Best,

Barbara

Hi Erin-

Rhode Island Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission has hosted bike tours at most of our annual statewide conferences since 2007. I've given bike tours for Providence Preservation Society (most endangered properties citywide as part of Jane's Walk) and for the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council.

I'd be happy to talk with your contact--you can forward my info along. At our next conference (4/6/19 in East Providence), I'm thinking about featuring a panel on bicycling in historic places--planning tours, planning paths, bike shares, interpretation/signage. Of course, we'll have bike tours, too. I'll check in with Historic Deerfield and other contacts that turn up in this conversation. Thanks for bring this topic up.

Best,
Sarah

Good Morning,

I'm curious if any community or organization has organized and held a preservation "bike tour"? We have had a query about how to plan and organize such an event that would feature historic sites and buildings on potentially different routes and tour themes. Any examples or people willing to share how they did it are very much appreciated.

Thank you!
Erin Kelly
