[MassHistPres] Exterior insulation

Hello All,
I have a small project, which is a sweet little wood framed cottage.  We are trying to preserve the exposed framing on the inside and would like to apply the insulation to the exterior, since we have to re-side anyway.  We are rebuilding the windows and trim to match the original relationships.  Can anyone point me to a  Commission and/or project where this has been allowed and successfully done?
