In Arlington, we have had to deal with such issues many times. We have
guidelines on this subject, which may be found at our website:

Subject: [MassHistPres] Solar Panels
Although I am told that in the 1970's when our local historic district was
first established and solar panels were just coming out there was discussion
by the members of the HDC about whether they would be allowed within the
district. However we have never received an application and have no agreed
upon policy. That is about to change and I am looking for how other
preservation groups have dealt with solar panels. Any input would be very
appreciated. Thank you
