The Hopkinton Historical Commission together with the Historic District Commission are trying to preserve the second oldest structure in the town, the Aaron and Lucy Claflin Inn. We have two articles before town meeting, a single structure historic district and an extension to 18 months for our demo delay. However, the developer insists they won't consider retention of the structure and is offering the house to be relocated. While this is not the preference of either committee it is a better option than watching the house be torn down.

Does anyone know a consultant or mover with the appropriate expertise to assess the existing structure to confirm the feasibility of relocation and a rough budget cost (i.e. $25-50K). Our options might include CPC money to relocate the structure so I wanted to get a budget figure for the move. Of course there would have to costs for new foundation, site prep and restoration but those can be more easily estimated.

Regards,

....Mike
