Issuing Fines for Preservation Violations:
The City of Boston Landmarks Commission is interested in issuing fines as
described in our enabling legislation. Do any municipalities in the
Commonwealth issue violations. If so:
- What was your state enabling legislation/act that enabled your
historic districts?
- Which statutory authority do you use to enforce the fines?
- What is your appeal process?
- Do you use 40U to issue fines?
For reference, our enabling legislation is Act of 1975 Chapter 772 & Act of
1955 Chapter 616, both of which call out issuing fines.
Thanks!
