I have been asked by a preservation professional to post the information
below so that the readers will understand the importance of the windows and
the predicament of the congregation.
*The set of five extraordinary stained glass windows in the Casa de Gracia
y Restauracion were created by Tiffany Studios between 1897 and 1903. They
were all designed by renowned Tiffany designer Frederick Wilson
(Scottish-American, 1858-1932) and depict various Biblical subjects in a
stunning use of opalescent glass. *
*The five windows are 11 feet in height and are of vertical form in two
sections, the upper large sections with Biblical figural subjects, the
lower smaller sections with Biblical sayings and memorial text. All of the
windows are in very good condition and feature opalescent glass
construction, some with projecting glass "jewels." The windows are
exceptionally executed showing a masterful use of color, depth and light.
All of the windows are listed in the Tiffany Studios booklet, A Partial
List of Windows Designed and Executed by Tiffany Studios (New York: Tiffany
Studios, 1910). The windows are listed under the original name of the
church, Calvinistic Congregational Church.*
*The Casa de Gracia y Restauracion purchased the church structure in 2013.
The massive Romanesque Revival edifice was constructed in 1897 during the
boom years of Fitchburg. Currently, the church is in need of ongoing
substantial repairs, including roof work and a new boiler, and this is why
the congregation has plans to sell the valuable Tiffany Studios windows.*
