Hi Chris
While we look for money to submit papers to National Register the area is seeing more buildings in disrepair and one in demo-delay with plans for a modern type convenience/retail store. It was suggested to us that the overlay district would better guide new development to follow historic patterns and thus put less pressure on historic structures to be demolished. There is such a bylaw for Harwich Center Historic District. It was proposed we use similar language. I am uncertain if this is the right fit for Captains”Row.

It was suggested we might be able to use the Commercial village overlay in the meantime. Has anyone used this approach and with what results.?
