For those commissions holding virtual public meetings or hearings already, if you have resource materials regarding virtual meetings that might be useful to other commissions, please send them to me.

I am collecting materials and they will be uploaded to the website of Preservation Mass for all commissions to utilize. Chris.

The City of Salem is holding all of its meeting through the Zoom platform. The Salem Historical Commission has held two virtual meetings with public hearings so far via Zoom with another meeting scheduled for next week. The public can participate in the meeting either through the online portal or via telephone. Applications and documents are presented on the screen during the meeting and are also accessible via a link to Google Docs for members of the public who do not log into Zoom. All of the login information and links are included on the abutter notices and on the Commission’s meeting notice and agenda. During the meeting, members of the public who wish to provide public comment are asked to click the “raise hand” button. This feature has worked well for all of the meetings. Zoom can also record the meeting, which can then be downloaded.

Does Chatham allow public speakout at its historical commission meetings? If so, how is that achieved?

Good morning
The Town of Chatham is currently holding all of its meetings virtually using Microsoft Teams. The Historical Commission held a meeting on April 21st using Teams and it went very well. We had a healthy agenda and for the first time through using a virtual platform and the Commission members handled the business with ease. The Chairman ran the meeting efficiently and members were able to comment and view plans that were shared during the meeting. With time and practice the process will become more proficient but it was well received.
Thank you
Michele

If your local historical commission or historic district commission has held a virtual public meeting, please let me know. I would like to hear how it is going and what kinds of resources you would find useful.
