Hi Chris,
The city of Newton's accessory apartment provision is at this site:

Subject: [MassHistPres] Accessory Apartments into Historic Buildings

I am looking for examples of accessory apartment bylaws/ordinances that have successfully allowed the integration of a new unit into a historic building. This could be either into an existing single family residence or into an outbuilding, such as the adaptive re-use of a barn or carriage house.

I have examples from 10+ years ago from Brookline, Ipswich, Peabody, Reading and Wayland but I am also looking for some more current examples.
