Hello,

Lexington is currently writing a deed restriction for a home being moved,
possibly out of the Districts. This is being completed by Town Counsel.
Once it is done, we're more than happy to share our example if it would be
helpful.

If the home is not being moved, it is possible to create a single home
historic district to protect it. An historic district only needs a name,
and it is created using 40C. It would then be under your oversight. State
can give you information on this process, which is being used in quite a
few towns and cities now to protect properties that fall outside the
official Districts.

Best,

Anne Laurin Eccles

Lexington Historic Districts Commission
