Our Historical Commission had a RR interpretive study done some years ago.

Of course the first task is to document the artifacts on MHC forms - this
had been done here in Wayland by PAL. And then decide how to protect and
make the railroad and its artifacts available to the public. Here in
Wayland, we also have a Passenger Station (now known as the Depot) and a
Freight House along with a turntable, remnants of a water tower and posts
and tracks etc. The artifacts (2000) and Freight House (2001) were added
to the Local Historic District 20 years ago. The depot already was part of
the NRHD and LHD. Some signs tell some of the story but much of the
"Interpretive Site Study" has not been carried out. Eversource paved the
RR r-o-w last year. We were able to save in place the tracks and some
siderails at the Depot. The Rail-Trail west of the Depot where it passes
the artifacts is stone dust while the rest, to the east and through Weston,
is paved.

Good luck - it is a worthy project and good for recreation and education
combined.
