Eleanor Tripp put a restriction on her property and the house known as the Handy House in 1974 inside and external.  It was purchased in 2010 using CPA funding and given to the Westport Historical Society, a private non-profit.   Betty SladeWestport In a message dated 2/2/2021 4:40:45 PM Eastern Standard Time, amprimer at msn.com writes:
HelloWe have several examples of that sort of Preservation Restriction here in Weston. I have cc’d one of the Historical Commission co chairs and either of us could help you to find out more about them. I have enclosed a link to the list of buildings currently protected by PR. Several of them (including 21 and 39 Crescent Street and 266 Glen Road, among others) were undertaken by the homeowners without Town funds. Good luck. https://www.westonma.gov/925/Buildings-with-Preservation-Restrictions Alicia Primer, Weston Planning Board and Consultant to the Historical Commission Get Outlook for iOSFrom: MassHistPres <masshistpres-bounces at cs.umb.edu> on behalf of Betsy Hannula <betsyhannula at gmail.com>

Subject: [MassHistPres] Preservation restrictions on homes Does anyone know of an example of a homeowner who has created a preservation restriction for his own home?  As the owner of a home built in 1755, I have always believed that we are caretakers of this home, and hopefully it will be preserved indefinitely.  My concern is that developers are everywhere in my home town of Westminster, and most are purchasing the old homes and demolishing them before building new monstrosities.  Our Historical Commission is working on a Demolition Delay By-law, but, in the end, that is not an absolute certainty for preserving all the older homes. I realize it would make it more difficult for my heirs to sell this house, if they need to, but I think it might be worth it, to wait to find the right buyer who really wanted to live in a beautiful home of a different century.    --
