Hello all,
The National Trust for Historic Preservation has recently announced two different grant programs for historic religious buildings. These grants are not provided by the Massachusetts Historical Commission; please contact the grant organizer with any questions.

The National Fund for Sacred Places<https://fundforsacredplaces.org/> is a collaboration between the National Trust and Partners for Sacred Places. The grants range from $50,000 to $250,000 and are targeted towards urgent repairs, life safety needs, and other projects that will open the buildings to new populations. Buildings do not need to be listed on or eligible for the National Register, but those designations can support an application. Letters of Intent for the current round are due March 7, 2022, with final applications due in July and notification in October.

The National Trust, through their African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund, is also partnering with the Lilly Endowment, Inc. to offer grants through their new Preservation Black Churches<savingplaces.org/black-churches> program. The details of the program have not been announced yet, but you can sign up to receive further information on their website. The grants will be targeted towards religious buildings associated with African American history that have a strong, active congregation and that are looking to expand their role in the community.

Thank you,
Jenn
