Hiall, The Townsend Historical Society is seeking a qualified contractorto undertake the exterior restoration of the Spaulding Cooperage (photo for reference). The buildingis an important local landmark with unique challenges (specifically, itoverhangs water, making repairs difficult). TownsendHistorical SocietyInvitationfor QuotesSpauldingCooperage Restoration Project TheTownsend Historical Society is seeking bids from qualified contractors andtradespersons with historic preservation experience to undertake restorationwork on the Spaulding Cooperage, located at 1 South Street, in Townsend,Massachusetts. The building is an eighteenth century mill overhanging theSquannacook River. It is in need of exterior envelope repairs and completerepainting. The Society is seeking persons willing to undertake such work inthe Summer/Fall of 2022. Work is funded by the Society and by several generousgrants and must be completed this year. Responsesto this Invitation for Quotes shall be received by the Society up until Friday,April 1, 2022 at 2:00 PM. All quotes shall be sent electronically using thecriteria defined in the proposal requirements. The Townsend HistoricalSociety reserves the right to reject any and all bids or to waive anyinformalities in the Proposal process, if deemed in the Society’s best interest TheInvitation for Quotes, containing the scope of work, proposal requirements, andevaluation criteria, will be/is available after 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 1,2022, through the Townsend Historical Society website. In order for vendors toreceive access, and to be made aware of any addendums, they must send theircontact, business name, address, email and telephone number to info at townsendhistoricalsociety.orgor by calling the office at (978) 597-2106 and leaving a message. Aproject walk-through is scheduled for Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 10:00 am.Bidders are encouraged to visit the project building to have a completeunderstanding of the work. Parking for the site visit shall be at the Society’sadjacent building at 72 Main Street, Townsend, MA. Questionsregarding this IFQ must be written and e-mailed info at townsendhistoricalsociety.org.Responses will be e-mailed to all plan holders.
