[MassHistPres] Seeking Feedback: Vision Statement, Goals, and Objectives, State Historic Preservation Plan 2023-2031

Good afternoon,
Work on updating the Massachusetts state historic preservation plan is progressing here at the Massachusetts Historical Commission!

First, we now have available for review and comment a draft vision statement, goals, and objectives. They are attached to this email. Second, the National Park Service is now allowing states to select their own five to ten year planning cycle. The MHC has settled on an eight year cycle for the new plan, which will cover the years 2023 to 2031. With the Secretary of State, who also serves as chair of the MHC, starting a new term this past January, the plan will now correspond with two four-year terms for the Secretary. Previously, states had been limited to a five year cycle.

As a reminder, while it is prepared by the MHC, the state historic preservation plan is for all preservationists in the Commonwealth. While the MHC will use these goals and objectives to prepare our annual work plan, we hope other commission, organizations, and agencies will incorporate these goals and objectives into their own planning and work. We would like as much input as possible, so please share the draft vision statement, goals, and objectives with others in your community who may wish to give input.
