One of the sites listed in the West Tisbury Historic District is “The Mill Pond and Dam”. Another is the MV Garden Club, which is the Mill the Pond served. The Garden Club is also on the National Register. 
The Town owns the Mill Pond and a town committee has, with the aid of the state, determined that the Pond is detrimental to the health of the Mill Brook that feeds it and should be removed. 
Its too warm. And its filling in. 
What have other districts done to protect … or to eliminate…  or something in between… historic mill ponds.
