Day after hurricane Sandy. School was closed yesterday, and I was hoping for a vacation day today. But I can’t really complain that it’s warm and sunny. Exam Thursday. After review today I think I will talk about energy and power. I might just skip taxes completely and start on regression, then exponential growth next week.
Just half the class in attendance. No questions at all. They chose taxes and we had a really good class. It was partially quantitative (how sales, social security and income taxes are computed, effective tax rates), but with plenty of opportunity to note how complex the actual tax laws are, and that the important decisions are ethical and political
