• Read Beck, eXtreme Programming eXplained (one of the assigned texts for the semester) and write a few paragraphs about your first impressions of some of what he has to say. We will discuss this book in class on Wednesday, September 25.

• Write a few paragraphs responding to each of the four possible projects we have heard about:
  • virtual genetics lab ( Professor Brian White)
  • two oncology database projects ( Dr. Kevin Hughes)
  • Exploring Demographic and Economic Change in Space and Time (Professor Enrico Marcelli and Professor Alberto Giordano )

  Base each response on the assumption that that is the project you will work on. In class we will decide (collectively) which three of these we will do.

  We won't yet have heard Paul English present fotokey, but I have decided that we will definitely do that project.

  The next assignment will give you a chance to let me know your first choice among the final four projects.
