Best choice for cleaning, according to the preservationists that work
with us in Littleton, is PhotoFlo (brand name) - the cleanser that is
used to wash photographs during the development process. You need to be
careful about using anything too harsh. And they recommend using soft
brushes, such as old toothbrushes -- pdc

We have a project in Westport to survey all the historic cemeteries.
We are
also trying to read the inscriptions. In many cases, it would help to
clean the stone to make it legible. Does anyone have a suggestion for
cleaning them?
Thanks.
Betty Slade,
Westport
