Before responding on your question, I'd like to take a look at your
demolition delay bylaw. However, I don't have a copy of the Canton
demolition delay bylaw in the MHC bylaw database. Do you have an
electronic version you can send me? Chris.

Subject: [MassHistPres] criteria for demolition delay

The Canton Historical Commission is re-examining its criteria for
demolition
delay and would appreciate learning what other historical commissions
use as
criteria, other than documented historical significance, and/or visible

architectural features. If a property owner who is seeking a demo
permit does
not know a building's construction date, has any commission issued a
temporary
delay to a demolition permit in order to research the original deed?
We
understand that we cannot require the owner to do this research, and it
would be
incumbent upon the commission to conduct the research.

Thanks for any information.
