Our Historic District Commission does not presently have any limitation
on how long a Public Hearing can be continued by the applicant. In one
case, the applicant has met with us 2-3 times during the course of his
public hearing. We still need additional information, so are not ready
to conclude the PH and vote. For the last few months, the applicant
has asked that the PH be continued until the next month for a variety
of reasons. A concern is that the abutters are only notified of the
initial PH meeting, thus are put in the position of having to check
every month to see if the application they are interested in hearing is
on the agenda yet, or risk missing out on their opportunity to attend
because they didn't constantly check on our coming agendas.
Do any Historic District Commissions have a deadline by which PH's must
be completed, or any sort of requirement that limits the number of
times a PH can be continued at the applicant's request?
Thanks,
