Hi Kathi
Sorry but I can't help you with your 1st part of your question about if the
glass was original or not.
But I can tell you we stock a lot of different restoration glass to match
from 1600's-1900's since we need this glass for our services.
The circa 1900's glass we get comes in 3,4 or 5MM thick and can also be
laminated, tempered, or used in insulated glass.
We just about always have the 3MM thick circa 1900 glass in stock here
because we use so much for our own work.

1. 19th C. plate glass (Kjgkeith at aol.com)

A Federal Style cottage, built 1836-1838 in Canton, has interesting
pilaster
sidelights with colored glass panes ( yellow, red, lavender, blue). I have
sent photos to the Sandwich Glass Museum curator who has confirmed that the
Boston and Sandwich Glass Co. did not make plate glass. I am wondering if
these sidelights would have been original to the house, or a later 19th C.
replacement. Also, I would like to research companies that produced plate
glass
from this era. Any and all leads to information are welcome.
