A 2-story, wood-frame, clapboarded building, part of which was once the 18th- and 19th-century Jones family cider mill, must be removed from its current site next to the National Register-listed Exchange Hall (1860), which is scheduled for a certified rehabilitation in the coming year.

The former cider mill was converted to a dwelling and enlarged sometime after 1910. In spite of the conversion and later alterations, the frame of the building is believed to contain much of the timber frame of the cider mill. Other early elements, such as sheathing and roof boards, may survive as well.

The building is located at 127 Main Street (Route 27), Acton, near the corner of School Street. The owner/developer of the property, woodworker Glenn Berger, with the assistance of the Acton Historic District Commission, offers the building at no charge. Interested parties should contact Mr. Berger at 978-263-0222 or at glenn.berger at verizon.net. The Acton HDC may be reached at HDC at acton-ma.gov.
