The John H. Chafee Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor, Rhode Island College & The
Slater Mill Historic Site will hold a Conference on November 2 & 3, 2007 focusing on early
American Industrialization and the development of the Mill Village, entitled Industrialization:
Transformation & Power in Our Landscapes, Our Lives & Our Laws. Topics for panel discussions
include:
The American Industrial Revolution Why Here?
Paternalism, Immigration & the American Dream
Industrial Workers in Industrial Landscapes: Labor & Class Then & Now
Planned Communities: Mirroring Our Social Climate and Redesigning Our Physical World.
We invite anyone interested to submit a one page abstract of their paper / presentation relating
