The town of Ayer (pop approx. 7,000) is debating whether to build a
parking garage to support its commuter rail station. The garage
would be located adjacent to the Downtown Mercantile District which
is on the National Register. The project is still in the preliminary
phases, and a design has not yet been created. There is much concern
that a garage would be way out of scale with the nearby 19th century
buildings.
It would be helpful if we had examples of garages that blend in with
the nearby architecture. Does anyone know of well designed parking
facilities that are visually compatible with surrounding older buildings?
