The Picturesque in the Design Method of H.H. Richardson: Principles of the Sublime
On Sunday, November 11, at 2:00 p.m. in the Forum at Trinity Church, Copley Square, Boston,
architectural scholar Thomas C. Hubka, Professor of Architecture at the University of Wisconsin,
Milwaukee, will offer a non-traditional way to understand H.H. Richardson as a "Victorian"
architect.
Known as an expert in vernacular architecture, Hubka is the award-winning author of Resplendent
Synagogue: Architecture and Worship in an 18th-Century Polish Community (Brandeis University
Press) and Big House, Little House, Back House, Barn: The Connected Farm Buildings of New England
(UPN).
Following the lecture Mr. Hubka will sign copies of H.H. Richardson: The Architect, His Peers, and
their Era (ed. Maureen Meister), in which he has an essay.
