[MassHistPres] Chip and tar surfacing

Good afternoon:

Has anyone had experience with tar and chip surfacing?  Our driveway must be 
replaced, and the usual black asphalt surfacing beside our 1838 neoclassical 
home in the Center Village Historic District in North Reading seems 
inappropriate.  Gravel would be more suitable, but has winter difficulties.
