Free National Register of Historic Places Workshop
The John H. Chafee Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor, in
partnership with Quinebaug-Shetucket Heritage Corridor, Inc. and the
Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, is pleased to
offer a workshop on the National Register of Historic Places, the country’s
primary means of recognizing and honoring places significant for their
contributions to local, state and national history.
This FREE workshop will take place on Tuesday, September 18 from 6:30 to
8:30 p.m. at the Brigham Hill Community Barn, 37 Wheeler Road in North
Grafton
Developed by Preservation Massachusetts in collaboration with the
Massachusetts Historical Commission, the workshop will provide information
about how properties qualify for National Register listing, what it means
to be listed in the National Register, the steps in the nomination process
and how to generate interest in National Register designation.
To register, please RSVP to Elsa Fitzgerald at Preservation Massachusetts:
elsafitzgerald at aol.com or 978-535-5556.
Please share this announcement with others you think may be interested –
all are welcome, and members of local historical commissions and historic
district commissions, planners, historians and members of municipal and
non-profit organizations are particularly encouraged to attend.
We hope to see you in Grafton on September 18!
Directions to the Brigham Hill Community Barn
Take the Mass. Pike to Exit 11 (Millbury, Rt. 122) and turn right onto Rt.
122 South. Proceed a little over 2 miles, during which time Rt. 140 will
merge in from the left, and you will then pass under the Mass Pike. At the
base of a down grade, look for Wheeler Road on the right. If you reach the
Stop & Shop you have gone too far. Turn right on Wheeler Road. Follow
Wheeler Road up the hill until near the point where it ends at North
Brigham Hill Rd. You will see the farm on the left.
