The Berlin Historical Commission has instituted a six-month demolition delay on the Bailey-Jones House (ca. 1780) at 155 Pleasant Street in Berlin. The new owner has indicated that the house will be destroyed unless it is moved from the site by early September. He has been advised by a local restoration contractor that it could be moved in one piece or disassembled for future re-erection. Most of the building is in good condition, with some deterioration in the basement framing. Around 1840 a significant renovation substituted a central stair hall after removal of the original center chimney.
Please help us find a new steward for this preferably preserved house.
