David,

You might want to check with the good folks at PreserveMassBarns. You can find them at
< http://preservemassbarns.org >. Some of their projects are re-use plans.

They are a sub-group of Preservation Mass, who can be found at:

Another place to look for use and re-use of barns and other timber frame buildings is the Timber Framer's Guild at
< http://www.tfguild.org >. These folks are working to keep the technology of timber framing alive and they do work all over the country, or the world. Some of their projects may provide examples of how this type of building is being put to use.

At the Old Chelmsford Garrison House, we were lucky enough to be given a barn-in-a-box. Rebuilding it was a lot of fun. We now have a barn, about 30 feet by 40 feet, framed and sheathed, with many plans for its use. Of course, old buildings being what they are, our barn now contains the disassembled frame of another building, some wagons and sleds, and some tools for working on the house we moved on site! I guess we won't be having a lot of events in the barn very soon!

Good Luck. Old timber frame buildings deserve to be kept alive!
