Do you live in an historic house with windows that could use a little
attention, or are you just interested in the beauty of old windows?
Join the NH Preservation Alliance for an informative program presented
by the New England Window Restoration Alliance to learn the history of
the wooden window sash, the importance of preserving original windows,
tips for the do-it-yourselfer, and why preserving your old windows is
the "green" alternative. There will be examples of window construction
and period glass, as well as before and after samples of restored
sashes. Discussion will include current materials for improving energy
efficiency and extending the life of your old windows. Following the
presentation, program participants will tour of the Colonel Robert
Means House to explore its historic windows ranging from the late 18th
century to the early 20th century. Members $30; non-members $40. Take
advantage of the new member special and combine a year's membership
and the workshop for $50. Call the Alliance at 603-224-2281 for
reservations. www.nhpreservation.org
