to be honest, i think using azek or any kind of pvc product is setting a dangerous precedent both environmentally and historically....next we'll see those shiny plastic fences surrounding monticello......

any pvc product is inherently dangerous to those who produce and use it...the metal stabilizing agents are lead and cadmium...as stewards of historic properties, we need to set the standard....as short term inhabitants of the globe, we need to plan ahead for future generations.....the more we use plastic, the more inclined the lumber people/loggers will be to continue forced and  accelerated 'maturity' of farmed trees with chemicals we certainly can do without......

  wooden gutters and should last much longer.  I haven't used them yet,  
  but we're considering them on a mansard roofed house that we're  
  renovating because the height of the house would make regular cleaning  
  and maintenance difficult.
