Some of you may have known the architect Frank Adams whose  
preservation activities went back to involvement with the  
preservation of the Quincy Markets in the early '70s and continued  
with work on many libraries.  He had a urban summer home in Salem and  
was involved with the BAC library for decades.  He will be missed.

Dennis De Witt

Of Boston and Salem, age 63, died at his home in Boston's Back Bay,  
after a long illness. He oversaw additions and renovations at many  
historic buildings throughout Massachusetts, including the Townsend  
Memorial Hall, Old South Meeting House and the Maritime Museum in  
Salem. A native of Georgia, he graduated from Darlington School,  
Georgia Tech, where he received the AIA Award for Excellence in  
Architecture, and Columbia University, with a Master's Degree in  
Architecture and Preservation. He is survived by his mother, Ann Cook  
Adams, his sister, Betsy Adams Dyches and niece Kathryn Dyches  
Barthel and her husband Aaron, all from Columbia, South Carolina. A  
memorial concert in Mr. Adams' honor will be held on Wednesday, June  
11, 2008, at 5:30 p.m. at the Old South Meeting House, 310 Washington  
St., Boston. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the  
Library of Boston Architectural College, Office of Development, 320  
Newbury St., Boston 02115.
