Cambridge has allocated about 40% of its annual CPA historic preservation allocation to a preservation grant program to assist non-profits and affordable housing programs. See http://www.cambridgema.gov/Historic/grants_institutional.html for the Institutional Preservation Grants; http://www.cambridgema.gov/Historic/grants.html for the affordable housing grants. The grants for non-profits have been very well received.

Subject: [MassHistPres] Historic Preservation Fund Issues
The Town of Danvers Preservation Commission is receiving a lump sum of $100,000 to establish a fund restricted to fostering historic preservation in the Town of Danvers.
Naturally, the Commission wishes to get the most bang for the buck over the longest period possible.
The Commission would appreciate hearing from anyone, especially other municipalities, who may have suggestions as to how such a fund could be administered and applied, or who have any experience in setting up and administering such a fund.
Wayne Eisenhauer, Volunteer Clerk to the Danvers Preservation Commission
(President, Historic Danvers, Inc.)
