LOCAL PRESERVATION UPDATE E-NEWSLETTER

This e-newsletter from the Massachusetts Historical Commission
Preservation Planning Division has been prepared for local historical
commissions, historic district commissions and others interested in
historic preservation activities around the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts.  It is published roughly every other week.  If you have

MAY IS NATIONAL PRESERVATION MONTH

Local events for National Preservation Month include the following: 

CAMBRIDGE

On May 21, Cambridge will have a preservation recognition program.  

MARSHFIELD

On May 31, Marshfield YesterDays will celebrate the history and culture
of the town with seven historic properties open to the public.  

NEWTON

The City of Newton will host a lecture on landscape architect Frederick
Law Olmsted and the 27th annual house tour featuring eight homes.

SPRING ANNUAL TOWN MEETINGS

Are you bringing a preservation bylaw to your annual town meeting or did
your town recently pass a new preservation bylaw?  If so, please let me
know.

NEW BYLAWS AND ORDINANCES

At its April town meeting, Acton approved increasing its demolition
delay bylaw to 18 months for national register listed properties.
