In 1971 the former two-story Colonial Revival-style Peters High School Annex
(1930) was retrofitted as the Southborough Police Station. The Town is now
considering a proposal to build a new police facility, connected to the
adjacent Fire Station using new construction. The current plan, if adopted,
involves the demolition of the historic Annex building. The Southborough
Historical Commission is interested in finding out whether other
municipalities have renovated/rehabbed a historic building for adaptive
reuse as an up-to-date police facility, with or without an addition of new
construction. The Commission is requesting a National Register eligibility
opinion from MHC, based on the Southborough Historic Properties Survey
(2000), National Register program.
