Hi Kristi

The response to your posting of my slate roof dilemma has been amazing.

I read the 22 emails carefully and with great interest . I come away
seeing a clear consensus in favor of preserving the roof. From there,
I see a broad range of suggested solutions - A wide variety of
recommendations that deal with slate roof hardware and insulation,
and/or advice regarding insurance companies, lawyers, and neighbors.
With everything that has come my way in these emails, I will digest it
all, and will come up with a much more informed decision.

Kristi, your network of professionals has offered me the expert and
insightful advise that I need, and I am very grateful to all who have
given their time to respond. Kudos to you and the City of Somerville for
fostering this online community.

My home was built in 1901, and the original Vermont Black Munson roof
remains in beautiful condition. It is the last roof of its kind on my
street, and I hope to pass it on as I received it. Interior restoration
is almost complete (Original Southern Yellow Pine floors, marble
fireplaces, original crown molding, etc). Exterior work will begin next
spring.

Marc
